The Host Yourself Network
The Host Yourself Network brings together a web server, remote IP address management and web start technologies to make sharing files online using your computer easy.
By hosting files yourself, you eliminate the need to email, upload or use a portable disk to access them elsewhere. Simply visit this web site, enter your online identity and access files directly from your computer. Host your documents securely, stream your music collection, share your photos with friends or even host a personal web site!
Share as many files, folders and drives as you like, there are no web hosting fees, because you do the hosting! You can even send files and folders of unlimited size back to your computer when you are away.
The software available for free from this web site enables you to provide dedicated hosting and an opportunity to experiment with web hosting directly from your personal computer with minimal expertise.
Unlike many file sharing solutions, a custom download client is not required. Any Internet browser can be used to access your files, even the browser on your mobile phone! MyDiskServer is a small Java application that you run on the computer you wish to host files from. It requires no installation and can be launched by a single click.
MyDiskServer helps configure your computer for sharing files, folders and drives online. It manages all network traffic between users and the host yourself network.
After registering an online identity and choosing files and folders to share, the files will be accessible from any device on the Internet.
MyDiskServer runs on personal computers (Windows, Linux, Mac etc) with the Java Runtime Environment version 1.4 or more recent installed.

Advanced connectivity
The host yourself network system is a very powerful solution to help transferring files between computers. Any personal computer with a Java Runtime Environment can host files using MyDiskServer, and any Internet browser online can access them. MyDiskServer can be used to host any type of file online and includes advanced support for multimedia files such as pictures and music.
Devices are evolving. Any device with an Internet browser can be used to access files shared by MyDiskServer. This includes most modern mobile phones and consoles such as the Nintendo DS, Wii, Sony PSP etc.
